AskID: Crepe-y Eyes

This is one of our most common cosmetic questions, for which there are multiple solutions!

If you are reticent to explore anti ageing injections or invasive surgery at this point, there are several minimally invasive procedures which will rejuvenate and tighten the skin around your eyes and make you look fresher.

PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy

Our stand-out favourite to plump thin skin around the eyes. It has been in use for years to help wounds heal faster by encouraging the growth of new tissue. PRP is extracted from the patient’s own blood so there is no risk of an allergic or adverse reaction.

When injected into the skin, PRP kick-starts the skin’s regenerative capabilities. Growth factors in the plasma increase collagen and elastin production, stem cell proliferation and vascular formation. This products a plumping and tightening effect on the treated area. The skin is rejuvenated and rehydrated and wrinkles are reduced resulting in a healthy, regenerated glowing complexion that looks smoother and more youthful. PRP is suitable for all skin types. Typically 2-3 treatments are needed 4-6 weeks apart.

Ultherapy

Also a non-surgical, non-invasive microfocused ultrasound treatment that stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin deep within the skin. Ultherapy uses precise ultrasound energy to target the deep structural layers of the skin without disrupting the skin’s surface. After treatment, the body’s tissue repair process stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, creating a natural lifting effect, with results evident in 2-3 months. Only one treatment needed.

For those with hollowing under the eyes, “tear trough” hyaluronic acid fillers have become very popular over the past several years. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance and an essential component of our facial tissues which declines over time. This non-surgical volume enhancement plumps the undereye area and smoothes out fine lines instantaneously.
