Winter skincare

We spoke earlier in the month, about looking after your skin this Winter, but we’re here to give you a few quick pointers on how to look after your skin over the Christmas Period 🎄

1) Be mindful of Alcohol consumption. Alcohol in itself has dehydrating properties so will play havoc with your skin. Try and limit alcohol consumption, opting to alternate every other drink for non-alcoholic beverages as well as having alcohol free days over the festive period.

2)On that note - Hydrate your skin, keep on top of water consumption and stick to your skin care routine which should include a hydrating moisturiser overnight

3)No matter the weather, don’t forget your broadspectrum, mineral SPF on those Christmas walks!

4)Sugar - While we’ll all be indulging over Christmas, it’s good to be a little mindful of the effects it can have on your skin. Excess sugar in your bloodstream can cause Glycation. Glycation affects the part of our skin that keeps it ‘springy’ – collagen and elastin. When these two proteins link with sugars they become weaker and when these essential skin building blocks are impaired, the signs of aging become more apparent; skin becomes drier and less elastic, causing wrinkles, sagging and a dull skin appearance. Adding antioxidants, AHA’s and Retinoids can help reverse this process to improve skin texture.
