CLn BodyWash is a gentle, fragrance free body wash for sensitive and compromised skin, including skin prone to eczema (atopic dermatitis), redness, itch and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). Its key ingredient is sodium hypochlorite, the same ingredient used in the dilute bleach baths dermatologists have long recommended for eczema, in an easy daily wash. Why it matters

Eczema prone skin has a weaker barrier, which leaves it more open to irritation. The wrong wash makes that worse. Professor Caitriona Ryan puts it simply: "Having an intact skin barrier is crucial, especially for people who have eczema or sensitive skin."

Dilute bleach baths have been used in dermatology for years, but few people want to measure out bleach at bath time. CLn BodyWash brings that approach into a gentle wash you use in the shower like any other.

What the research found

Professor Caitriona Ryan was lead author of the first published study of CLn BodyWash, in the journal Pediatric Dermatology in 2013.

In a separate published six week study of 40 children with atopic dermatitis, using CLn BodyWash daily with one to two minutes of contact time, measures of eczema severity and quality of life improved significantly from baseline from the two week mark. Individual results vary.

How to use

1. Wet skin thoroughly.
2. Apply a small amount to your hands.
3. Massage into skin and leave on for one to two minutes.
4. Rinse thoroughly in the shower or bath.
5. Pat dry and apply your moisturiser straight away.
